Neighbourhood policing is at the heart of our approach to keeping South Wales safe. Our PCSOs and officers are proud to be integral parts of the communities they serve.
We want to ensure our neighbourhood policing is as efficient and effective as it can be, and our aim is to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs and priorities of each individual community. Your local neighbourhood policing team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area who are both visible and accessible.
Fundamental to our model of neighbourhood policing is engaging with our communities: connecting with individuals, organisations, businesses, schools, workplaces and others; working to understand, respond to, and tackle your concerns and priorities; and putting measures in place to prevent issues from escalating – or from occurring in the first place.
By working together and focusing on early intervention, prevention and problem solving, we can find long-term solutions to local problems.
Please note that to report a crime or incident to South Wales Police, you can visit Home | South Wales Police or in an emergency, please dial 999.

Local Priority Issues
We regularly speak to local residents to establish what issues they may be experiencing in their area. We set up to three local priorities for each policing area three times a year. These are based on local crime statistics, information from partner agencies and feedback from the community via our local priorities survey. The priorities for this area are currently:
ASB – Local youths attending the privately operated Trecco Bay Caravan Park (Parkdean) after school and over weekends
You said that local youths are attending the park and being verbally abusive to site security, staff, guests and visitors. They have attended wearing balaclavas and thrown objects at caravans and people. Youths tend to hang around the central entertainment complex, either inside around the Burger King premises, or outside around the all weather 5-a-side pitch and go-kart hire stand.
We will continue to patrol the site in partnership with site management and security, and shall take action against those committing ASB. Gather information and liaise with partner agencies and landowners to address the concerns via problem solving. Trecco Watch Initiative has been set up to address ASB through partnership working. Residents to be kept updated via South Wales Listens messaging.
Obstructive Parking – Length of Beach Road
You said visitors along the length of Beach Road are parking obstructively during periods of fine weather. Vehicles are parking the length of the road making it effectively a single lane carriageway over a long distance. There is a lack of natural passing places causing vehicles to mount pavements to pass. Vehicles also park close to driveway accesses making it difficult to visualise oncoming traffic. Grass verges and wide pavements are being used as car parks making the area unsafe to walk.
We will continue to patrol the area and take action against those vehicles causing obstructions. We will liaise with partner agencies regarding offences committed that don’t fall under the remit of the Police. A leaflet drop will be conducted in locations highlighting the issues and providing suitable information. Residents to be kept updated via South Wales Listens messaging.
Speeding – Danygraig Avenue
You said about concerns of speeding along the length of Danygraig Avenue which is a long, wide, straight carriageway with good forward visibility. Vehicles are causing concern by driving in excess of the speed limit.
We will continue to patrol the area and utilise the hand held speed gun to monitor the speed and forward the information to relevant departments and partner agencies for further action to be taken. Residents to be kept updated via South Wales Listens messaging.
The word cloud below represents the issues that local residents have recently highlighted in the survey as priorities for their area (including some that say "I have no issues").
Word clouds are graphical representations of word frequency that give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently. The larger the word in the visual below the more common the word was in the survey.
Your feedback is important and the more we get, the better we can understand and deal with the issues raised. Please click on the button below to have your say on local issues. Please do share your feedback every few months so we can be sure we have your current views.
